Use of blogs in education

Through blogs, communication can be done without the back and forth of email. We as teachers can update both students and parents to what we have been up to as a class and what we look forward to learning. We can give the students an ongoing and constantly updated site where they can catch up on work missed or prepare themselves for new lessons, fieldtrips, projects etc.
Blogs could also be a key tool in updating other teachers across the world on resources you have discovered, common issues you have come across or cross cultural experiences when you do teaching exchanges so that the teachers at your school can track your time away.
Blogs can also be used to display your personality as a teacher (within professional boundaries) what you are up to in the community and events you are happy to post in order to get others involved.
